Watford Operatic Society was founded in 1922. We are based in Watford, Hertfordshire, England, UK.
We currently stage one main production each year at the Palace Theatre, Watford. The theatre seats over 500 and we regularly perform to full houses.
As an operatic society, we primarily perform musical productions. We are registered with the Charity Commisiioners in UK, and are affiliated to NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association). Many of our members have been with the society for a number of years.
Some of our members perform Concert Group style shows for local institutions, with the proceeds going to Charities.
Although we are a group of amateur performers, we have a reputation of producing shows of a very high standard.
Some of our members have gone on to professional theatre. Over recent years, one member toured with Les Miserables, another is currently understudying in the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera.
